When the company was required to disclose the drug's risks and benefits, Pfizer allegedly was unaware of these risks. The company then marketed the drug as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.
Pfizer was ordered to pay $1.2 million in civil penalty for the false statements and fines of $10 million for the civil liabilities.
The company has appealed the ruling, which the FDA ordered Pfizer to pay.
